About APRU DSN
Started in 2000, the APRU Doctoral Students Network (APRU DSN) is a self-governed graduate students' organization under the umbrella of APRU, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, a consortium of 37 leading research universities in the Pacific Rim. The APRU DSN aims to connect doctoral students in the Pacific Rim and further research dialogues through the annual APRU Doctoral Students' Conference (APRU DSC).
An Executive Committee oversees the activities of the organization. Activities of the DSN Executive Committee include:
-
Holding the Doctoral Students Conference on an annual basis.
-
Discussing relevant ideas that are able to enhance the goals of the organization, topmost of which is to further research dialogues through the APRU DSC. Serious importance is to be given to ideas that are capable of improving the Pacific Rim Community.
-
Holding elections for vacant positions as and when due.
The members of the Executive Committee work together in planning the DSC annual conference. They support the Conference Chair appointed by the Host University and ensure that DSC participants are able to continue their interactions after the conference is over. DSN considers the interactions of members after the annual DSC a priority. Members are encouraged to share their research interests among themselves and DSN keeps in touch with its members in various ways. The APRU DSN communicates officially with the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) through its Secretariat. APRU Secretariat is the repository of official documents of APRU DSN such as the original, signed bylaws of the organization.
