A Brief History of APRU DSN

The APRU Doctoral Students Network was formed in 2000 during the gathering of doctoral students in the first APRU Doctoral Students Conference (APRU DSC) held at the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, USA. During the conference, a plenary meeting was scheduled for participants to evaluate and share their views about the conference. Conference participants reached a consensus that the conference was unique and gave them the rare privilege to discuss and exchange their researches firstly, among their peers and secondly, with colleagues from different research backgrounds. They expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) for sponsoring the conference and their respective universities which made it possible for them to be present in Los Angeles. At the meeting, the initiative to form the DSN Executive Committee was moved and supported. This committee was needed to oversee the activities of the organization.
